I started counting macros in 2014. It was the best I started counting macros in 2014. It was the best investment I’ve ever made for my health & physique.

It shouldn’t be looked at as something you have to do for the rest of your life. It’s more the means to an end. No matter your goal- fat loss, building muscle, marathon training, you name it- macro counting can get you there.

It teaches you awareness, portion control, what foods make you feel best, and perform best.

Flexibility, better adherence, and how they evolve with you are why counting macros works best for me, and my clients.

What do you love most?

There are tons of methods/diets out there, but at There are tons of methods/diets out there, but at the end of the day, fat loss comes down to just a few simple things...

If I could go back to 2010 me I’d tell her to focus on these things to lose fat:

Calories (deficit for weight loss)
Protein intake
Weight training
Step goal

When I started focusing on those 4 things, I saw the biggest changes in my body composition.

What is calorie cycling? You’re simply looking What is calorie cycling?

You’re simply looking at your total calories for the week as your budget. Whether you “spend” your budget with the same calories each day, or 6 lower days with 1 higher day, your weekly average is still the same.

This allows for a little more flexibility, but still gives you parameters to work within to stay on track with your macros.

I calorie cycle as needed. If I have a dinner out for the weekend, event, etc.

This full day of eating was:
1816 calories: 136p/183c/60f

This gave me 3,900 calories for one day. Sounds like a lot, but when you’re eating out, having alcohol, appetizers, dessert, etc it adds up quicker than you realize.

Making simple adjustments like this can make all the difference in adherence to plan. And we know that adherence and consistency are what drives results! This is why I incorporate calorie cycling in my Shred program.
